2단의 손건반을 가진 쳄발로를 위한 아리아와 여러 개의 변주곡, ARIA with diverse variations for harpsichord with two manuals
1742년에 출판된 바흐의 〈골드베르크 변주곡〉은 작곡가가 붙인 원제목보다 〈골드베르크 변주곡〉이라는 부제로 더욱 유명하다. 아리아와 서른 개의 변주, 다 카포 아리아로 구성된 그의 마지막 건반 음악으로, 수학적인 규칙성을 지닌 카논, 순환과 대칭 구조 등을 사용해 정교한 음악적 구성이 돋보이는 수작이다.
