오래된 기도 / 이문재
가만히 눈을 감기만 해도
기도하는 것이다.
왼손으로 오른손을 감싸기만 해도
맞잡은 두 손을 가슴 앞에 모으기만 해도
말없이 누군가의 이름을 불러주기만 해도
노을이 질 때 걸음을 멈추기만 해도
꽃 진 자리에서 지난 봄날을 떠올리기만 해도
기도하는 것이다.
음식을 오래 씹기만 해도
촛불 한 자루 밝혀놓기만 해도
솔숲 지나는 바람소리에 귀 기울이기만 해도
갓난아기와 눈을 맞추기만 해도
자동차를 타지 않고 걷기만 해도
섬과 섬 사이를 두 눈으로 이어주기만 해도
그믐달의 어두운 부분을 바라보기만 해도
우리는 기도하는 것이다
바다에 다 와가는 저문 강의 발원지를 상상하기만 해도
별똥별의 앞쪽을 조금 더 주시하기만 해도
나는 결코 혼자가 아니라는 사실을 받아들이기만 해도
나의 죽음은 언제나 나의 삶과 동행하고 있다는
평범한 진리를 인정하기만 해도
기도하는 것이다
고개들어 하늘을 우러르며
숨을 천천히 들이마시기만 해도.
