오늘 차를 타고 오다가 문득, 당신과 함께 조용히 늙어가고 싶다는 생각을 해봤습니다. 안타깝지도 슬프지도 않을 만큼의 거리를 운명처럼 인정하며, 또한 내 것이 아닌 것에 대한 욕망도 접어두고, 다만 지켜보면서, 서로를 많이 걱정하고, 가끔 당신의 어깨와 머리카락과 마른 몸을 만지며 그렇게 함께 늙어가는 삶, 앞산의 능선을 닮아가는 주름과 그윽한 눈매와 부는 바람에 보기 좋게 흩날리며 헝클어지는, 하얗게 센 머리칼과 너그러운 눈빛을 함께 만들어가는 삶, 그런 삶을 당신과 함께 살아 낼 수 있다면 얼마나 좋을까를 생각했던 것입니다. 순전히 천연덕스럽게 투명한 햇살과 짙푸른 저 가을 하늘 때문입니다. 생각 뒤의 먹먹함은 온전히 제 몫입니다. 저는 늘 이곳에 있습니다.
