여백 / 도종환
언덕 위에 줄지어 선 나무들이 아름다운 건
나무 뒤에서 말없이
나무들을 받아안고 있는 여백 때문이다
나뭇가지들이 살아온 길과 세세한 잔가지
하나하나의 흔들림까지 다 보여주는
넉넉한 허공 때문이다
빽빽한 숲에서는 보이지 않는
나뭇가지들끼리의 균형
가장 자연스럽게 뻗어 있는 생명의 손가락을
일일이 쓰다듬어주고 있는 빈 하늘 때문이다
여백이 없는 풍경은 아름답지 않다
비어 있는 곳이 없는 사람은 아름답지 않다
여백을 가장 든든한 배경으로 삼을 줄 모르는 사람은
